Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Part-Time)
Are you experienced in supporting young people with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, or SEMH? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in South Tyneside.
Start Date: ASAP and continuing into the new academic year (September 2025).
About the Role:
This part-time position is suitable for someone with a calm, resilient approach who thrives in a nurturing, high-impact environment. You will support students facing barriers in mainstream settings, helping them build confidence, routines, and positive relationships.
Daily Schedule:
Morning: In-class support (1:1 or small groups)
Afternoon: Enrichment activities to promote life skills, social development, and engagement
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students with autism, ADHD, and SEMH
* Providing 1:1 and small group support
* Assisting with learning tasks and structured activities
* Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
* Collaborating with teaching and pastoral staff
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience in Alternative Provision, PRUs, or SEN settings
* Confidence in supporting children with challenging behaviour, anxiety, or dysregulation
* Calm, patient, and consistent approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
