Salary: £39,000 (Pro Rata and based upon days worked)
Location: This role is primarily face-to-face within a clinic setting in Essex.
As our NHS contracts grow, clinics will be offered across multiple sites in the UK, with allocations made based on proximity to the assessor for convenience and efficiency.
Working Hours: Part-time basis (2-3 days per week) on a 6-month fixed term contract

What we are looking for?
We are looking for a kind, compassionate, and proactive Children and Young People Community Practitioner who enjoys building trusting relationships with children, young people, and their carers or guardians.

This role supports our face-to-face provision within Care and is offered on a part-time basis (2-3 days per week), with flexibility where possible to support a healthy work-life balance.
What You Will Be Doing
You will be skilled in assessing, observing, and understanding neurodiverse presentations in children and young people. Working closely with families and carers, you will meet with each young person face to face to complete thoughtful, behavioural-based assessments that help inform diagnostic pathways and assessment recommendations.
Your work will play an important role in ensuring children and young people feel seen, heard, and supported throughout the assessment process.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Observation
Carry out structured and semi-structured face-to-face behavioural assessments within a supportive clinic environment.
Thoughtfully observe and understand each child or young person's social communication, emotional regulation, attention, sensory experiences, and adaptive skills.
Administer and score standardised localised assessment tools care and accuracy.
Gently gather developmental histories in partnership with children and young people, their parents, carers, and guardians, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
Reporting & Documentation
Produce clear, well-structured written reports, drawing thoughtfully on observations, information, and evidence gathered during the assessment process.
Provide practical, person-centred recommendations to support next steps in diagnostic assessment and care planning.
Confident user of IT tools relevant to the role, with strong troubleshooting skills
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team
Understand and support next steps following assessment, ensuring information is shared clearly and appropriately with families and professionals.
Communicate with children, young people, and families in an accessible, sensitive, and non-judgemental way, helping them feel informed, respected, and supported.
Safeguarding & Professional Practice
Hold a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people, with a clear understanding of local and national safeguarding guidance and the confidence to raise and escalate concerns when needed.
Keep careful, respectful, and accurate records, recognising their importance in supporting continuity of care, accountability, and positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
To Thrive In This Role You'll Need
At least 4 years' experience working in healthcare, social care, or educational settings, supporting children, young people, and their families.
Hands-on experience with neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD and Autism, with an understanding of their impact on daily life, learning, and development.
Proven experience conducting behavioural observations and assessments in a thoughtful, child-centred manner.
Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to translate observations and assessment findings into clear, practical, and supportive recommendations for families and professionals.

Ability to work independently, managing clinic sessions efficiently while maintaining high standards of care.
Cultural sensitivity and awareness of bias, ensuring fair, inclusive, and respectful assessments for all individuals.
Strong safeguarding knowledge, with the ability to identify risks and escalate appropriately to protect children and young people.
Support the learning and development of the team, actively contributing to training initiatives and helping the organisation grow its skills, knowledge, and impact in supporting children and young people.
