Pastoral Support Officer
Maternity cover, 37 hours per week, term time plus 10 days. Applications considered for full or part time work.
Band 5 (SCP 12 to 17): £28,598 to £31,022 FTE.

We are looking to appoint two Pastoral Support Officers (PSO) for maternity cover, starting in May and September respectively. Our PSOs provide highly valued support, addressing the needs of pupils who require help overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential. The role is predominantly education based but also has a wider remit, including working with families and other agencies to promote engagement and intervention at the earliest opportunity.
Duties include:
* Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensure safeguarding is rigorous and meticulous.
* Carry out ‘on call’ duties to assist colleagues with behaviour management.
* Provide differentiated levels of support to pupils with behavioural issues, including those with special needs.
The postholder must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish productive relationships with pupils, families and other professionals.

* Be able to sensitively understand the needs of children and their families.
* Use initiative and apply effective problem‑solving skills.
* Work independently with individuals, small groups or a whole class as needed.
