Sidney House and the Laurels Surgery have an 18.5 hour a week receptionist vacancy for the following work pattern:
* Thursdays 08:00 - 17:00 based at The Laurels Surgery in Boreham
* Fridays 08:00 - 18:30 based at Sidney House Surgery in Hatfield Peverel
The reception team plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services and the right time, and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, which is not always a doctor, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
Main duties of the job
* Greeting and directing all patients.
* Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required.
* Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
* Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
* Advising patients of practice procedures.
* Registering new patients.
* Answering the telephone promptly.
* Promoting the use of online services as a means of accessing healthcare.
* Chaperoning for colleagues and patients when requested.

We are a two-site training practice based in the semi-rural villages of Hatfield Peverel and Boreham, serving a patient population of 11,400. We are a SystmOne Practice with a consistently high QOF achievement and a CQC rating of Good.
We are part of the Aegros PCN with Lt. Waltham & Great Notley, Douglas Grove Surgery and the Beacon Health Group.
Our team is made up of three GP Partners, five salaried GPs, a paramedic practitioner, a nurse prescriber, three practice nurses, two HCAs, a phlebotomist and dispensers. We are further supported by PCN staff including a pharmacist and physiotherapist. Additionally we have a well established non-clinical team of managers, administrators, dispensers and receptionists.

Person Specification
Experience
* Confident working with the general public
* Able to remain calm under pressure
* Previous GP experience would be an advantage, but is not essential, as full training will be given
* Confident with IT and be prepared to fully embrace digital ways of working
* Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues
* All applicants should ensure that they live within reasonable commuting distance

£12.21 an hour, increasing to £12.65 per hour
