Strategic asset lead - cambridge

Cambridge
Cambridge City Council
Posted: 24 June
Offer description

Reference: CCC00436Description: Cambridge is one of the most dynamic cities in the UK. But, like many councils, we're also facing major pressures - from rising need and limited funding to the demands of the climate emergency. Our land and property - assets are one of our biggest tools to tackle those challenges and achieve real outcomes for our communities. We're now recruiting a Strategic Asses Lead - a new role within our Economy & Place directorate. This isn't a traditional property post. It's a chance for a strategic thinker, with a solid grounding asset management to help us rethink how we use our estate to deliver on our ambitions: from community wealth building and poverty reduction to achieving net zero and revitalising place. You'll take a corporate, long-term view of the council's whole estate - administrative, operational, commercial, and selected housing assets - working closely with senior colleagues across the whole council to understand what we hold, what we need, and how best to use what we retain and release what we don't. You'll lead the refresh of our Asset Management Plan and drive forward a pipeline of investment that reflects the full value of our assets - financial, social and environmental. You wont' be doing this alone. You'll work in close partnership with our Chief Property Surveyor, who leads on the day-day asset management and key transactions. While they focus on operational delivery your focus will be on long-term, cross-cutting strategy; setting direction, building shared priorities, driving collaboration, and joining the dots between property decisions and wider council outcomes. Key responsibilities will be; *Advising on which assets to retain, refurbish, repurpose or dispose in line with corporate priorities *Updating and implementing the council's Asset Management Plan (v.2)*Leading strategic governance (including our internal Net Zero Board)*Developing our capital investment pipeline in partnership with finance and service teams*Championing the use of data, technology and innovation - including AI and energy intelligence - to inform better decision making *Supporting wider place-maker and economic goals through effective partnership working across sectors You will need to be MRICS (or equivalent), confident navigating both strategic and technical property issues, able to work across boundaries and disciplines. Above all, you will be motivated by the potential of public asset to do public good. if this sounds like you - and you are ready to help shape the future of Cambridge, we would love to hear from you.
