Educational Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking experienced Educational Mental Health Practitioners to join our Mental Health Support Team covering schools and colleges in Kirklees. This role involves delivering evidence-based interventions to children with mild to moderate mental health conditions, providing training and workshops to schools, and supporting a whole‑school approach to wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a caseload of young people, including triage, assessment, and decision‑making regarding support needs.
* Consulting with schools, parents and children, implementing a whole‑school approach, and enabling staff to manage low to moderate mental health concerns.
* Providing workshops for young people, parents, carers and school staff.
* Coordinating case‑management supervision and supervising junior staff.
* Making decisions about suitability of referrals, adhering to service protocols, and referring appropriately.
* Contributing to service development and identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Leading case‑management supervision and supporting junior staff.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Registered mental health practitioner (NMC, HCPC), registered social worker or KSA equivalent accreditation.
* Successful completion of the CYP‑IAPT CBT/EMHP supervisor training or willingness to undertake.
* Experience delivering low‑intensity CBT interventions and providing clinical supervision.
* Experience working with children, young people and their families in a mental health or community setting.
* Experience with assessment and risk management, and delivering evidence‑based psychological therapy such as CBT.
* Experience delivering training to diverse audiences.
* Experience working in primary care, MHST services or CAMHS.
* Experience in early intervention and prevention services.
* Experience delivering services via digital platforms.
Key knowledge, skills and attributes:
* Good understanding of evidence‑based, low‑intensity interventions for mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and multi‑agency work.
* Knowledge of CYP‑IAPT principles, evidence‑based therapies and routine outcome measures.
* Excellent communication skills with children, young people and professionals.
* Strong record‑keeping and case‑plan documentation.
* Ability to manage own caseload and supervise others.
* Good negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
* Team‑working and cross‑discipline collaboration.
* Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
* Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
* Commitment to challenging discrimination and improving accessibility of services.
* Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day (reasonable adjustments considered for those unable to drive).
* Good physical health to undertake duties and a satisfactory sickness record over the previous two years.
