Job Description: At Hayton Coulthard Transport, we are currently seeking a Transport Operator for our site in Twynholm. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspect of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Transport Manager in leading, motivating, and developing the transport team to ensure efficient use of staff and resources, driving strong commercial performance, cost-effectiveness, and high service standards.
* Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed in line with customer expectations, monitoring key KPIs such as delivery performance, revenue achievement, and vehicle utilisation.
* Manage daily and weekly driver rotas, including delivering pre‑shift and weekly briefings.
* Administer driver holiday requests and expense submissions through the People System.
* Oversee completion of vehicle inspections and defect reporting via the Vehicle Check App.
* Ensure all units and trailers are prepared and presented for scheduled inspections on time.
* Coordinate delivery and collection timings directly with customers to maintain punctual service.
* Work closely with the Fleet Team to ensure all vehicle defects are addressed swiftly and effectively.
* Set clear delivery targets for each shift and vehicle to maximise operational efficiency.
* Hold regular meetings with Line Managers to maintain smooth daily operations and continuous improvement.
* Identify and put forward potential new business opportunities where appropriate.
* Monitor contracted work to ensure it meets agreed customer service levels and contractual expectations.
* Ensure full compliance with all operational policies, procedures, and business area standards.
Requirements:
* Bring your transport expertise to the table, including solid knowledge of the Working Time Directive and EU driver hours regulations.
* Communicate with confidence and clarity at every level, building strong relationships across the business.
* Leverage your strong UK geographical knowledge to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
* Showcase your organisational skills by prioritising tasks and managing a busy workload with ease.
* Demonstrate sharp attention to detail and consistently hit daily deadlines.
* Work collaboratively within a supportive team while also thriving when using your own initiative.
* Utilise your proficiency in MS Office packages: Word, Excel, and Outlook, to stay on top of reporting and communication.
