Senior Hardware Engineer – Power Electronics | Norwich
This is an opportunity to join an innovative engineering company developing next-generation electric drive systems.
You will play a key role in the design and development of high-power electronics across DC-DC converters, traction inverters and battery charging systems, helping take products from concept through to full production release.
Responsibilities:
* Designing power electronics hardware including DC-DC converters, inverter systems and associated control/sensing circuitry.
* Supporting hardware development through schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype build, validation and production release.
* Driving robust, manufacturable designs through DFM, FMEA, tolerance analysis and production-focused development methods.
* Collaborating with embedded software, controls, manufacturing and validation teams across the full product lifecycle.
* Supporting debugging, EMC evaluation, root cause analysis and production issue resolution.
Requirements:
* Strong experience in power electronics hardware design within automotive, electrification, industrial or motorsport environments.
* Experience designing high-power systems such as traction inverters, battery chargers or switching converters.
* Strong understanding of power electronics topologies, analogue design and embedded control hardware.
* Experience with PCB design considerations for EMC, thermal management and manufacturability.
* Familiarity with simulation and ECAD tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or Altium Designer.
Bonus Skills:
* Experience supporting products through pilot build and production release.
* Knowledge of production test systems, supplier quality and manufacturing processes.
* Experience with embedded systems, firmware interaction or control systems integration.
