We’re seeking a Brand Strategy Lead for a 12-month FTC — someone with big ideas, a strategic eye, and a talent for turning insights into action. You’ll be the voice of the brand for our 9 million existing and prospective customers. Additionally, you’ll lead the employer brand experience for British Gas, fostering pride in the brand.
The ideal candidate is brand-obsessed, fueled by insights and data as much as creativity. As the custodian of the British Gas brand, you’ll collaborate with teams from Insights, Commercial, Group Strategy, Creative, Marketing, Customer Experience, and others to embed the brand strategy—covering customer targets, positioning, and personality—across the business.
You’ll set brand priorities, contribute to marketing planning, and work with Commercial teams to align propositions with brand positioning. Alongside our Brand Insights Lead, you’ll monitor brand performance, identify opportunities and challenges, and adjust plans as needed.
Building on the foundations laid over the past year, your role will involve enhancing how the brand appears across the customer journey, identifying ‘magic moments,’ and refining creative platforms for maximum impact and seamless experiences.
About the role:
* Strategy: Define, own, and deliver a dynamic brand strategy and plan, ensuring ongoing evolution aligned with strategic ambitions and market conditions.
* Internal champion: Promote pride and understanding of our brand internally, ensuring consistent use across the business for our customers.
* Audiences: Champion our customer targets, embed them within relevant teams, and use insights to enhance personalization.
* Brand health & measurement: Set KPIs aligned with our strategy, track success, and lead interventions when performance deviates.
* Creative: Demonstrate excellent creative judgment and understanding of translating brand personality across the customer journey.
* Ideation: Bring external thought leadership and creative ideas to advance our brand experience.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience with large, national brands and notable achievements
* Proven ability to develop and implement effective brand strategies
* Experience working with data and insights to shape customer segmentation
* Strong brand custodianship, setting high professional standards
* Expertise in customer needs-based brand planning
* Data-driven decision-making skills
* Experience collaborating with agencies, briefing, and leading creative thinking
* Ability to engage with diverse audiences, from executives to external partners, and confidently present at all levels
