Job Description
Are you an experienced Hardware Engineer interested in delivering high-performance digital hardware for self-protection systems on fast jet, UAV, land, and naval platforms? If so, keep reading!
We are recruiting for Principal Electronics Hardware Engineers to support various teams within the EW sector for next-generation electronic platforms. You will experience the full engineering lifecycle at Leonardo, assisting with requirements, architecture, PCB design, and integration and qualification of products. There are multiple roles across different sites and levels, with Leonardo's seniority levels being Senior > Principal > Lead > Chief.
What you’ll do as a Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer:
* Support the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis to delivery
* Document and record work products under configuration management
* Support hardware, firmware, and software integration
* Participate in qualification activities and trials
* Design high-speed digital PCBs using FPGA, Microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies
* Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to solve complex system integration problems
* Develop ideas, concept designs, and products using best practices
* Mentor others and enhance personal knowledge
What We Need From You:
You must have:
* An HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Systems, or equivalent experience
* Familiarity with circuit design, schematic capture, layout, and simulation tools
* Experience with mixed-signal design, ADC/DAC, FPGA, and SoC for high-performance signal processing
* Experience integrating in-house designs with COTS modules
* Practical debugging, testing, and verification skills
* Knowledge of EMC and EMI design considerations
* Ability to analyze system requirements and apply them to hardware design
* Design experience with high-speed serial communication links and protocols
* Hands-on experience with hardware, firmware, and software integration of microprocessor-based designs
* A structured approach to hardware design lifecycle management
* Effective communication skills across disciplines and with suppliers
* Ability to work independently and in teams, managing work schedules effectively
It would be advantageous if you have some of the following:
* Experience with low-noise analogue electronics or power supplies
* Experience with fast interfaces like PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204
* Knowledge of model-driven engineering using MATLAB and Simulink
* Experience with FPGA, Microprocessors, Memory, and high-speed digital technologies
