The role
This is an exciting operational role involving general cashiering tasks and assisting in processing client and office transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Regulations Authority Accounts Rules. The role reports to the Finance Team Leader and is part of the wider finance operations team based across our offices.
The person
This role requires someone with experience in the legal industry or professional services firm, with a financial background and a proven track record of delivering excellent client service.
Ideal candidate background includes:
* Previous experience with legal cashiering;
* Solid educational background with at least 6 GCSEs at grade 4 and above, or equivalent;
* Holding or working towards an accounting qualification;
* Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills;
* Excellent attention to detail;
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident working with all levels;
* Organized and methodical approach to work;
* Self-managed, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks independently;
* A team player, comfortable working locally and remotely with finance colleagues.
The activities
* Processing client and office account transactions in line with SRA compliance and best practices;
* Conducting inter-account transfers;
* Assisting with Purchase Ledger invoices and payments;
* Liaising with external clients regarding the firm's credit card line;
* Supporting month-end procedures;
* Maintaining accurate accounting data and observing authorization procedures;
* Advising fee earners and assistants on accounting procedures and providing financial support;
* Assisting with bank reconciliations and corrections;
* Responding to queries from clients, banks, and institutions;
* Providing information to auditors and assisting during audits;
* Performing other tasks delegated by team leaders and managers;
* Suggesting improvements to efficiency through technology or process changes;
* Supporting the implementation of new systems and practices;
* Building good working relationships within the team;
* Supporting billing and credit control, managing working capital;
* Producing reports from the accounting system;
* Promoting financial best practices among staff.
