The Technical Studio Assistant is responsible for supporting the Technical Studio Manager and will form a studio support team for our video and audio teams within the business. They will be responsible for the overall technical operation and maintenance of the Video & Audio Studios within 9 Derry Street, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows for all productions and projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills to oversee studio equipment, personnel, and resources. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of broadcast, video, audio, and IT systems. Main Responsibilities Technical Operations & Maintenance Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of all studio equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio systems, video switchers, servers, and networking infrastructure. Ensure all technical systems are operating at optimal performance and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise. Conduct regular equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all technical equipment and software. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry technologies and trends and be able to recommend upgrades or replacements as needed. Project Management Plan and coordinate technical resources for productions and projects, ensuring timely and efficient execution. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Work within technical budgets and track expenses related to equipment, maintenance, and personnel. Coordinate with production teams, clients, and vendors to ensure technical requirements are met. Team Leadership & Management Supervise and mentor our in-house video teams and staff, including engineers, technicians, and operators. Provide technical training documentation and guides for studio use. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Work with support freelancers and external contractors for studio maintenance. IT & Networking Work with IT teams to manage studio network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and storage systems. Ensure network security and data integrity guidelines are adhered to. Work with IT teams to manage digital asset management systems. Health & Safety Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. Maintain a safe working environment for all studio personnel. Quality Control Recommend technical quality control standards. Person Specification Experience in a technical studio environment. Strong understanding of broadcast, video, audio, and IT systems. Proficiency in operating and maintaining studio equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio mixers, video switchers, and editing software. Experience with network administration and IT support advantageous. Excellent organisational skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of industry standard video and audio file formats. Knowledge of live streaming technologies.
