Health Care Assistant – Recruitment Event
Department: Children’s Services
Band 2/3 (starting salary £24,465 - £26,598 per annum)
Opportunities to start at Band 2 and progress to Band 3. Note: you must have an NHS Care Certificate to be Band 3; until you pass this you will be Band 2 for probation.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week over a variety of shifts. Flexible working considered. This role cannot be sponsored.
Location: Children’s Nursing Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Focus on Ward 4 (Paediatric Assessment Unit) and Ward 5 (Acute Children’s Ward).
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to deliver family‑centred care for babies and children.
* Assist with patient care activities including support with feeding, mobilisation, toileting and maintaining safety.
* Maintain ward environment cleanliness and equipment readiness.
* Support in neonatal, emergency and day surgery units as needed.
* Contribute to patient observations, documentation and safety protocols.
* Assist visitors, report incidents and maintain communication.
Qualifications & Skills
* Holds NHS Care Certificate (required for Band 3).
* Patience, understanding, creativity, sense of fun.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to varied shifts.
* Basic Life Support and venepuncture skills desirable; training provided.
Training & Development
* Support for educational needs, access to courses relevant to role.
* Basic Life Support, venepuncture, and other relevant skills training sessions.
