Job Summary
The Service Lead will monitor and maintain the professional standards required through leadership and management of Hospice services, creating a supportive and unified team, whose prime purpose is to provide safe, effective care to those who need it across all Hospice services.
The post holder will take a key role in the Clinical Governance processes including the review, development and implementation of policies and evidence-based practice required for the safe, efficient and effective day‑to‑day operation of the Hospice services. They will work closely with the Head of Clinical Services, Service Leads across the organisation to ensure multi‑professional collaborative working.
Working Pattern
Full time, 37.5 hours / 5 days per week
Salary
Band 7 £47,810 per annum (unsocial hours enhancements paid in addition to basic salary)
Main Duties & Responsibilities

* Maintain and develop the skills of all clinical staff through professional leadership and management of the inpatient unit team, creating a supportive and unified team.
* Lead the review, development and implementation of policies and evidence‑based practice to ensure safe, efficient and effective day‑to‑day operation of the Hospice services.
* Engage with multi‑professional teams, senior management and colleagues to facilitate and lead change to meet the needs of the local population.
* Support quality improvement initiatives and embed governance structures within the service.

Knowledge & Skills – Essential
* Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) KLOEs for hospices.
* Leadership in challenging clinical and managerial situations.
* Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
* Time management and workload prioritisation.
* Ability to motivate and develop staff.
* Excellent record keeping with data analysis, report writing and presentation skills.
* Ability to develop policies to enhance patient care.
Desirable
* Experience in establishment and budget management.
* A working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act in practice, including DoLs and the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).

* NMC Level 1 Registration.

* Masters degree or working towards.
