Interim Tax Accountant (Corporation Tax)
6 Month Contract - £400 per day
Central Birmingham (Hybrid 2 days onsite)
We are currently seeking an immediately available Interim Tax Accountant to join a finance team in a complex organisation on a 6 month contract.
This role will focus primarily on UK corporate tax compliance and reporting, with exposure to financial reporting and management accounting within a well structured finance function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified financial accountant with strong UK tax experience who is available to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
1. Prepare and submit UK corporation tax returns
2. Manage quarterly corporation tax payments on account
3. Prepare quarterly VAT returns and monthly CIS returns
4. Calculate and post current and deferred tax
5. Support tax disclosures within statutory accounts
6. Maintain tax controls, processes and governance documentation
7. Support Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) compliance
8. Assist with capital allowances, transfer pricing documentation and CIR calculations
9. Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors
10. Support IFRS tax reporting requirements
Financial Reporting:
11. Support the monthly management accounts close
12. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
13. Deliver variance analysis vs budget and forecast
14. Assist with budgeting and forecasting
15. Support statutory reporting and audit processes
16. Work with stakeholders across finance to improve reporting and controls
Essential Requirements:
17. Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
18. Strong UK Corporation Tax experience
19. Experience preparing VAT returns
20. Knowledge of IFRS reporting
21. Strong Excel and ERP system experience
22. Experience with tax software (e.g. OneSource) preferred
23. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
24. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
