The Role
You will act as the company’s technical authority for all geoenvironmental and contaminated land matters, working closely with engineers, project managers, and directors to ensure best practice and compliance at every stage.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead technical delivery across contaminated land and groundwater assessment, from feasibility through to verification.
* Review and interpret investigation data, risk assessments, and remediation design outputs.
* Prepare and approve Remediation Strategies, Material Management Plans (MMPs), and Waste Classification reports.
* Provide technical advice on regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and CL:AIRE DoWCoP protocols.
* Support bid and estimating teams with technical input, risk identification, and value-engineered solutions.
* Mentor and upskill engineers and project managers in geoenvironmental principles and practical application.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulators to ensure that designs, documentation, and delivery meet technical and legislative standards.

About You
You are technically strong, commercially aware, and confident in providing clear, evidence-based advice at all levels. You thrive in a role where you can combine technical leadership with practical problem solving.
Requirements:
* Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in contaminated land investigation, risk assessment, and remediation.
* Strong knowledge of current UK legislation and guidance including CLR11, C4SLs, GACs, and DoWCoP.
* Chartered status (CGeol, CIWEM, or similar) preferred but not essential.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Familiarity with QGIS, HoleBASE SI, or other geoenvironmental software is an advantage.

The Opportunity
You will be joining a respected contractor known for delivering large-scale brownfield regeneration and enabling works. The business is technically forward-thinking, collaborative, and values the contribution of its senior technical specialists.
For the right person, this is a clear progression route towards a director-level position, with the autonomy to define standards, influence strategy, and lead technical development across the company.
