Responsible for the overall planning, co-ordination and control of the construction project, mainly focused on piling works and associated preparatory works. The role ranges from its inception to the initial 12 months after the starting date, ensuring that HS2’s requirements regarding the functionality and standards are met, ensuring that all quality, assurance and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner.
The Construction Manager is also responsible for supporting the construction team with the technical and engineering aspects of the works, in particular method statements, ITPs, construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
To develop an appropriate knowledge and comply with the construction management plan, management plans and the works information.
Responsibility extends to ensuring that the works are constructed in a safe manner with due regard to the protection of the workforce, public and the environment.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Ensuring effective planning, directing and coordination of the construction project.
* Overseeing the construction project, ensuring the works are constructed in a safe manner and meet the specified requirements in terms of cost, quality and timescale by assisting the team to manage sections of the work/specific sub-contract packages.
* Scheduling and estimating the time required and ensuring that the various elements of the construction programme are completed on schedule.
* Determining the labour requirements and effective resource planning and ensuring construction resources are used effectively.
* Overseeing the selection and hiring of trade contractors and general contractors, determining the best source of construction materials.
* Managing financial aspects of the construction works.
* Ensuring that the competency management process is complied with within the construction team and subcontractors.
* Producing and reviewing when necessary, method statements, ITPs, construction processes, engineering specifications, set out and measurements and quality control, certificate and compliances.
Specific Safety Responsibilities:
* Complying with the requirements of Mace Dragados HS&W Management Plan and co-operate with the efforts to prevent accidents and ill health.
* Ensuring that the information required to collate CDM health and safety file is included in the CDM register.
* Carrying out investigations with appropriate personnel into accidents or incidents that occur on site and report findings and recommendations to the Project Director.
