Job overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced advanced social work practitioner to join our adult safeguarding team or our neighbourhood teams. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social work, enabling effective integrated working, promoting independence through reablement approaches and safeguarding vulnerable adults in Salford. You will be responsible for carrying out social work duties, requiring the highest levels of skills, knowledge, and professional expertise. You will be required to work as part of a team with both your colleagues and partner organisations.

Main duties of the job

You will be a skilled, effective practitioner acting with considerable autonomy. You may have in depth knowledge and skill in one or more fields of practice which may have been developed through a formal post, qualifying training and/or development activity. You will have the opportunity to undertake Practice Educator training and support student Social Workers. You will have the opportunity to undertake a postgraduate qualification and/or role in specialised practice e.g., AMHP, BIA. You will need to have the ability to integrate professional knowledge, the views of people using services and research/evaluation evidence routinely in your practice. At experienced level, you will need to demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self-determination. You will need to network and liaise with a wider range of professionals and other colleagues, including at more senior levels. You will need to manage a caseload and offer expert opinion inside and outside the organisation.

Person specification

* • Registered as a Social Worker with Social work England
* • Recognised Social Work qualification, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW
* • You must clearly evidence an understanding of the principles and values underlying the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation.
* • You must clearly evidence an understanding of the integration agenda and the promotion of independence (enablement) model of health and social care.
* • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of personalisation and a person-centred approach.
* • You must clearly evidence that you can maintain accurate records and to communicate complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in written form.
* • You must clearly evidence that you have a clear understanding of the social work role in a multidisciplinary setting.
* • Experience of working with adults/older people
* • You must clearly evidence your ability to develop effective working relationships with people with lived experience and their carers’ and show evidence of good assessment practice
* • Demonstrate the ability to develop effective working relationships with other professionals and colleagues.
* • Possess skills of negotiation, mediation, and de-escalation - seeking constructive approaches to problem solving
* • Have a good standard of computer skills
* • Ability to demonstrate assertiveness and manage confrontations constructively and effectively
* • Significant experience effectively managing complex cases
* • A thorough understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the needs of carers including an understanding of current best practice around personalisation and an ability to demonstrate innovative approaches to meeting needs
* • Ability to generate creative solutions to work problems
* • A commitment to customer focussed service delivery
* • Ability to make effective and timely decisions
* • Possession of a methodical approach to problem solving
* • Ability to demonstrate a strategic perspective
* • Ability to actively promote equality
* • Experience of chairing meetings
* • You have additional qualifications; Best Interest Assessors; AMHP; Practice Educator; Post Qualifying
* • You can evidence an innovative approach to the development of new methods of working to support people in the community.
