This role supports chemical testing operations on site, ensuring accurate sample preparation, efficient testing processes, and timely reporting of results. You will play a key part in maintaining high-quality standards, meeting customer expectations, and supporting the wider laboratory team to deliver operational excellence.
Responsibilities
* Support all chemical testing activities, including sample preparation (breaking down samples, digestion, equipment cleaning)
* Operate and run laboratory testing instruments for analysis (e.g., metals testing and compliance testing)
* Monitor and report daily testing status to ensure visibility of workflow and timely communication with stakeholders
* Proactively follow up on outstanding orders and resolve issues in the preparation stage
* Maintain accurate records and documentation to support UKAS accreditation and quality standards
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has experience in a laboratory environment, with a strong understanding of chemical testing processes and quality standards. You will be confident working to procedures, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to a high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
* Experience working within an experimental or analytical laboratory
* Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a high level of accuracy
* Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT systems
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience using analytical instruments
* Understanding of quality systems and accreditation standards (e.g., UKAS)
* Strong chemistry knowledge, ideally within consumer product testing
* Relevant chemistry qualification
* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
