Lead Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer – Contract Location: Fully Remote (5 days per week) Hours: 40 hours per week Rate: £55–65/hr | Inside or Outside IR35 (subject to ir35 status determination) Contract Type: Long-term (12 months ) The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join our commercial team on a long-term contract. In this senior role, you will take technical ownership of EC&I deliverables across multiple projects, providing leadership, guidance, and expert support to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of control systems and instrumentation. This role is central to delivering high-quality technical solutions while maintaining strong client relationships, particularly within the public gas pipeline sector. Key Responsibilities Lead EC&I technical services to clients, acting as the senior point of contact. Ensure delivery of EC&I outputs in line with project schedules and framework requirements. Mentor and guide junior EC&I engineers on technical and delivery matters. Work closely with the Framework Manager to resolve complex technical or delivery challenges. Attend site as required to support project activities and provide on-site technical leadership. Ensure all EC&I work complies with relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practice. Provide technical input during the design phase with a strong focus on constructability. Apply experience within the public gas pipeline sector, including projects for Cadent Gas, to support project delivery. Produce, review, and approve electrical schematics, control logic diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams.Required Qualifications & Experience Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Proven leadership experience in Electrical Control & Instrumentation engineering within project environments. Extensive experience in modifications, testing, and technical review of EC&I documentation. Strong public gas pipeline experience, ideally with Cadent Gas or similar operators. Solid understanding of gas industry standards, design requirements, and regulatory compliance.Desirable Attributes Delivery-focused with the ability to meet business-critical timescales. Able to work under pressure while maintaining high technical and leadership standards. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
