Job Summary
Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Consultant in Gastroenterology to join the existing Gastroenterology Team at the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton (UHDB). The post aims to develop specialist GI services within the Trust.
Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality, timely endoscopy care, outpatient clinics and inpatient care. Support the delivery of comprehensive GI and hepatology services, including management of benign and malignant gastrointestinal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, enteral/parenteral nutrition and complex GI disorders.
Work across UHDB sites, including inpatient wards, the 3‑room endoscopy suite at QHB and the 2‑room suite at Sir Robert Peel Hospital (SRP). Deliver a service‑week system with elective activity cancelled for full ward cover and review of new referrals.
Participate in national bowel cancer screening programme and develop a particular GI interest (e.g., IBD, nutrition, GI cancer, therapeutic endoscopy).
Qualifications
Suitable for StRs acquiring CCT or established consultants wishing to subspecialise within a large department. Clinical experience and proficiency in endoscopy and GI/Hepatology services are essential.
