Principal Social Worker, Assessment Team
Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Principal Social Worker within the Assessment Team to work Full Time based in Cardiff.
The salary for this permanent Principal Social Worker job is up to £48,226per annum.
* To take a lead in using the Signs of Safety approach to Social Work Practice.
* To encourage and support the team in adopting the Signs of Safety approach.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective systems to ensure quality services to children in need and their families.
* Supports the Team Manager in the identification of trends on unmet or inappropriately met needs to contribute to the annual planning and commissioning process.
* Take responsibility for complex and demanding cases, to assist people to resolve major difficulties in their lives and enhance their independence and coping skills.
* Provide a consultation role on practice issues for staff and, where appropriate, managers.
* Provide supervision, mentoring and coaching to staff and students within Children’s Services as required and support other staff with students on placement to ensure good-quality placements and development of the workforce.
* Work with the Team Manager to ensure Team and staff development needs are reviewed annually and when needed and contribute to the development of the Service Development Plan.
* Take responsibility for delegated decision making appropriate to the role and provide cover for the Service Manager/Team Manager roles in appropriate circumstances.
* Work with the statutory and independent sector to ensure an appropriate multi-agency approach and represent Children’s Services as necessary in multi-agency forums.
* Research issues to inform and assist in the development of practice.
* Engage in Continuous Improvement activities to ensure policies and procedures always reflect Signs of Safety and best practice.
* Chair a range of meetings as appropriate, including inter-agency meetings.
* To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions and to comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
* To, as a statutory duty, adhere to the Council’s Corporate Safeguarding Policy and associated policies and procedures and to report concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children or adults at risk. In order to support you in this, you are required to access safeguarding training at the level which is relevant to this post.
* As a term of your employment you may be required to undertake such other duties and/or times of work as may reasonably be required of you, commensurate with your grade or general level of responsibility within the organisation.
* Although you will be provided with a case, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role.
Requirements of this Principal Social Worker role:
* A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
* Understanding of relevant legislation.
* Registered or eligible for registration.
