Job Description:
The role will be based in our Oxford office, which opened a couple of years ago and is growing fast. You will be integral to our strategy for the Thames Valley region and will be involved in cross-regional and national projects, focusing on the 'Golden Triangle' of London, Oxford, and Cambridge.
You will have the opportunity to work with all major industry forms and utilize AI technology for bespoke drafting. Current focuses include MMC and ESG, particularly on how the construction and engineering industry can help achieve the nation's net zero targets.
You will be part of a great team with excellent support from our executive assistants and regular training from our in-house senior legal advisor, Alison Garrett. You will also contribute to our business development activities, including blogs, seminars, and thought leadership reports.
Our firm prides itself on outstanding client service and delivering commercial, cost-effective advice. You will play a key role in this, including scoping and agreeing on the cost of matters and ensuring timely, within-budget delivery.
Under supervision, you will assist with all team work, including:
* Drafting amendments to standard forms like JCT and NEC
* Advising on construction obligations in property documents
* Bespoke drafting of various legal documents
* Negotiating with project parties
* Reviewing or drafting sub-contracts and collateral warranties
* Bespoke drafting of other forms, including purchase orders
* Assisting with due diligence
* Drafting advice reports
* Legal research
* Supporting our clients' legal teams
Experience required
5+ years PQE with experience in construction work gained post-qualification.
