About the Role
A open and collaborative primary school in the Wigan area (WN5) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive school that places a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing, academic achievement, and inclusive practice. The school is looking for a committed teacher who can lead the Year 6 class with confidence and prepare pupils for a successful transition to secondary school.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to engage and motivate pupils in their final year of primary education.
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally in Year 6.
* Strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum, including preparation for SATs.
* Ability to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
* Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
* Commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support Year 6 pupils to make strong academic progress.
* Prepare pupils for end-of-year assessments, including SATs, with appropriate intervention and support.
* Monitor pupil progress, provide effective feedback, and maintain accurate records.
* Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, subject leaders, and the wider school community.
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, EAL, or SEMH needs.
* Strong understanding of effective intervention strategies.
* Familiarity with transition processes to secondary school.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies and inclusive classroom practice.
