Overview
The post holder will join a large team of consultants, specialist registrars, specialty doctors, core medical, F2 and GP resident doctors and advanced nurse practitioners and will contribute to outpatient and inpatient clinical care, including the Acute Oncology Service (at VCC and providing advice to Health Board colleagues when on call) and the Assessment Unit. The post holder will participate in the consultant 24-hour on call rota (pro-rata, approximately 1 in 30 for a whole time equivalent), which is of low intensity. Velindre University NHS Trust, together with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management is introducing a mentoring scheme for newly appointed consultants. There is a Staff Clinical Psychologist and a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme for counselling support for all staff, providing confidential assistance with any work, personal or family issues.
Medical posts within the Velindre Cancer Centre are accountable to the Clinical Director supported by a Medical Directorate Team who are available every weekday.
