Role Overview
The role of the Mental Health Advisor, a fixed term post for 9 months maternity cover, is to offer professional advice, triage, risk management, support, and care planning for students with complex or emerging mental health difficulties. You will be required to have an input to the delivery of mental health support for students, including providing advice and guidance on mental health issues and support available for students to staff across the institution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide professional advice and support for students with mental health difficulties.
2. Contribute to the delivery of mental health support services.
3. Liaise with local NHS services and other agencies to enhance student support.
4. Signpost students to appropriate resources when necessary.
Qualifications
A relevant degree or formal mental health qualification is essential, as well as substantial experience of providing mental health and wellbeing support, information, advice, and guidance on a one-to-one and group basis. You will have experience of working with young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and knowledge and understanding of the mental health system, referral, and continuing care.
