Role Overview
Interim Security Advisor – Location: Wokingham, Hybrid (2 days on site). Duration: 6 months. Compensation: £500.
Must hold an active security clearance and be PAYE through umbrella.
Role Description
Supports the Corporate Security Team in generating and deploying security policies, ensuring a proportionate approach to security management across the client’s portfolio within the UK.
* Lead the Physical Security function to deliver security programmes and solutions to safeguard the organisation’s people and assets, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and corporate policies.
* Deliver protective security advice to all areas of the business, written and verbal as required.
* Assist the Corporate Security Team working with National Grid’s UK Physical Security Team and Security Control Centre/Physical Security Operation Centre.
* Support UK Government Counter Terrorism and Crime Prevention strategies, utilising external relationships and committees to influence and shape UK Government security policy.
* Design, develop, implement and manage security programmes to protect corporate assets and people against theft, acts of terrorism and other hostile activity.
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know‑How
* Proven experience working with key Government departments and law enforcement agencies, supporting wider UK Government Counter Terrorism, Domestic Extremism and Crime Prevention strategies.
* Proven people‑management skills, managing performance and development plans.
* Excellent knowledge of physical, personal and personnel security and related principles.
* Previous experience designing, developing, implementing and managing security programmes.
* Strong analytic, organisational, management and administrative experience within the security industry or UK Security Service.
* Track record of delivering and running physical security programmes and campaigns.
* Credibility and influence senior stakeholders within the organisation and key external stakeholders.
* Prior Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) experience – essential.
* Experience managing Government‑marked information and material.
* Security Surveys, Operational Requirements, Site Specific Operational Requirements, Project support relating to security, Infrastructure Security, National Protective Security Authority, Protective security.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
* Aptitude to convey the business benefit of a threat‑based, risk‑informed security approach, ensuring business risk owners are empowered to make appropriate and proportionate security decisions.
Desirable
* Home Office or UK Security Service trained.
* ASIS International Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
* CCTV Public Space Surveillance licences.
* Register of Security Engineers & Specialists.
Additional Information
Travel may be required as per UK Government requirements.
