Overview
Ambitious Works Manager sought to help deliver a large scale civil engineering contract for STRABAG. The role is based on the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett, Hertfordshire, a project aiming to shift freight transport from road to rail and reduce emissions. Construction is anticipated to take place over the next three years with community and environmental benefits including biodiversity net gain and opportunities for employment and training.
Location: former Radlett Aerodrome site, Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating site works in line with project standards and timelines.
Responsibilities
* Lead inspections of day-to-day construction work to enforce conformity to specifications.
* Review workloads, scheduling, complete paperwork, and report to project managers.
* Ensure that all site information is recorded and communicated to relevant parties.
* Organise work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced optimally.
* Coordinate site activities between subcontractors.
* Collaborate with contract administrators on all work operations.
* Carry out a range of works as instructed by the line manager.
* Communicate effectively with teams and supervisors; resolve personal issues among workers.
* Ensure works are carried out in a courteous and professional manner to promote the company’s reputation.
* Organise appropriate training required for the project to carry out duties and support personal development.
* Lead and guide the workforce by example; drive progress to complete to programme.
* Contribute to health and safety compliance and implementation of defined assurance procedures.
* Support emergencies as required outside normal working hours.
Requirements
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Extensive knowledge of subject works.
* Strong decision-making skills; resilient and focused.
* Ability to demonstrate up to 8 years of experience in the construction industry with positive line management responsibilities or transformation achievements.
* Excellent communication skills and understanding of customer care principles.
* Ability to drive progress and ensure completion to programme.
* Inspiring leadership and the ability to lead by example.
* Adherence to company policies including health & safety, equality, standards of dress & behaviour.
* Commitment to safe, courteous, and professional site operations and promoting the company’s reputation.
