Offer description

This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and develop further experience in caring for patients following an acute admission, while progressing professionally within a positive and supportive yet challenging environment. Derwen Ward provides care for Urology, Surgical, and Trauma & Orthopaedic patients, offering a diverse and rewarding clinical experience.

The role will require you to undertake delegated clinical observations and to communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team. The unit operates a variety of shift patterns to meet service needs, including day and night rotation.


Main duties of the job

* Assist registered nurses in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients following acute admission
* Carry out delegated clinical observations, including monitoring vital signs, reporting abnormalities promptly, and accurately documenting findings.
* Support patients with personal care, including hygiene needs, mobility, toileting, nutrition, and hydration
* Assist in maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and safety, including safe mobilisation and use of equipment
* Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, relatives, carers, and members of the multidisciplinary team
* Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organised ward environment in line with infection prevention standards.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; however, both Welsh and English speakers are warmly welcomed to apply.


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or equivalent experience and can evidence work‑based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and work‑based training/short courses.
* Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)


Experience

* Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care
* Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
* Experience of working within the NHS
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.


Salary

£26,300 to £27,890 a year per annum (pro rata if part time)
