Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Acting as the owner of the 3-Year Plant Improvement Plan related to capital projects.
2. Being an integral member of the Maintenance Team, ensuring projects are well managed and integrated into plant operations with minimal disruption.
3. Managing all site project financial commitments, forecasting monthly spend, and updating regularly to communicate with the wider business.
4. Carrying out feasibility investigations and sanity checks on proposed projects.
5. Creating project proposals for submission to the wider business for approval.
6. Developing and contributing to project plans to determine timeframes, identify limitations, and establish procedures for accomplishing projects, including staffing requirements and resource allocation for each phase (including CAPEX applications).
7. Participating in the development of plant program/project planning, scheduling, and resource management practices.
8. Balancing capabilities with demand to ensure successful project delivery using qualified internal resources.
9. Managing issues and escalations related to project delivery.
10. Leading, motivating, and engaging project teams to ensure successful outcomes.
11. Maintaining standard governance and compliance for all projects.
12. Providing programme/project health reviews and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
13. Acting as a project management expert for processes and best practices.
14. Supporting post-implementation reviews and integrating lessons learned into future projects.
15. Responding to internal or external compliance audits or investigations.
16. Supporting the Maintenance department as required.
17. Proactively promoting safety and health performance and behaviours among project teams and contractors to continuously improve safety standards.
18. Communicating effectively through toolbox talks and serious event reviews.
19. Managing risk assessments within the department and cascading task lists to drive safety and environmental competence.
20. Ensuring housekeeping and safety standards are implemented across all projects.
21. Participating in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
Key competencies include:
22. Budget management: up to £10m.
23. Project management experience: 5+ years, including major projects.
24. Strong leadership and communication skills across all organisational levels.
25. Team player – supporting the One Tarmac approach.
26. Excellent numerical and financial accounting skills.
27. High-level report writing ability.
28. Experience preparing major project CX requirements.
29. Site management experience (essential).
Essential Qualifications
30. Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical).
31. NEBOSH Certificate (desirable).
Desirable Qualifications
32. Management qualification.
33. Comprehensive knowledge of CDM regulations (CDM qualification desirable).
34. Prince2 certification.
Experience
35. Proficient in MS Project software.
36. Broad experience in the cement industry.
