1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND (Autism Support) Location: South Birmingham Position: Full-time | Long-term ️ Start Date: Immediate starts available We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with moderate to complex needs, primarily Autism, within a specialist school in South Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them develop both academically and emotionally. The Role In this role, you will work closely with individual pupils, providing consistent and personalised support to help them engage in learning, develop communication skills, and build independence in a safe and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities: 1:1 and Small Group Support: Adapt activities and learning approaches to meet individual pupil needs. Encourage Engagement: Support pupils with communication, sensory, and behavioural needs. Build Positive Relationships: Foster trust and confidence to support pupils’ progress and wellbeing. A supportive and collaborative staff team committed to pupil development. About You Experience working with SEND pupils, Autism, or complex needs is highly desirable. Qualifications in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Psychology, or Supporting Teaching & Learning are beneficial but not essential. A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach when supporting pupils. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
