Description
Priory Hospital Barnt Green is looking to recruit a Chef to join the team. Located in the beautiful Lickey Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Birmingham, Priory Hospital Barnt Green is a purpose-built hospital with a 10-bed private ward. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours.
Our brand new hospital conversion allows for access to high quality, modern facilities within a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere, close to relaxing woodland, to help facilitate recovery and hope. In addition to acres of rolling countryside on all sides of the hospital, each ward has access to south-facing garden areas, meaning you can relax and spend time outdoors.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
* Researches, develops and creates varied and interesting menus, which take account of healthy eating guidelines and any dietary requirements of the particular resident group.
* Ensures that stock ordering and rotation is organised in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
* To ensure that wherever possible the people who use the service are provided with variety and choice, with full regard for dietary, nutritional and religious requirements.

What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
The ideal candidate will be numerate, literate, and qualified to NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds standard, holding an advanced food catering certificate. They should demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong organisation and time management abilities, and first-class customer service. The role requires the ability to work toward agreed short-term objectives with immediate impact, as well as adaptable thinking and problem-solving capabilities. A minimum of three years’ experience in preparing and cooking meals within a large professional kitchen environment is essential.
