The Role

The Investigator supports the delivery of Imperial Brands’ global investigations and intelligence capability. The post holder conducts investigations into criminality, fraud, financial crime, misconduct, ethical breaches, and non‑compliance, and supports due diligence and operational intelligence work that safeguards Imperial Brands PLC, its people, assets, and reputation.

Working under the guidance of the Head of Investigations & Intelligence, the Investigator ensures that investigative and intelligence work is carried out to a high professional standard, ethically, consistently, and in alignment with legal obligations and internal policies.


Principle Accountabilities

* Conduct investigations into misconduct, criminal activity, and policy breaches, ensuring proper evidence collection and documentation.
* Support complex or sensitive cases through interviewing, analysis, and coordination with internal and external experts.
* Gather and analyse intelligence on financial crime, organised criminal activity, and emerging threats.
* Produce clear investigative reports and present findings to HR, Legal, Compliance, and senior stakeholders.
* Provide guidance and training to local teams on investigative standards, evidence handling, and ethical practices.
* Ensure strict compliance with legal requirements, internal policies, confidentiality standards, and global investigation protocols.


Skills and Experience Required

* Experience conducting financial crime, fraud, or corporate/regulatory investigations, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
* Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information.
* Skilled in interviewing, information gathering, and evidence evaluation.
* Excellent written communication skills, including producing clear and concise investigative reports.
* Familiarity with OSINT techniques and structured analytical methodologies.
* Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and work both independently and as part of a global team.


Desirable

* Background in law enforcement, corporate security, compliance, auditing, or intelligence analysis.
* Experience with illicit trade, financial crime, or supply‑chain‑related risk.
* Understanding of due‑diligence processes and third‑party risk assessment.
* Knowledge of digital forensics principles, financial investigations, or e‑discovery.
* Fluency in French is a strong advantage.
* Experience in designing or delivering training programmes.
