Main duties of the job
Deliver excellent patient care and be confident in chronic disease management as well as undertaking a range of general practice nursing duties such as immunisations and vaccinations, cervical cytology, wound care and contraception
Duties
* Undertake patient assessments, consultations, and treatment within scope of practice
* Provide chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
* Carry out cervical screening in line with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme
* Administer vaccinations and immunisations, including childhood and travel vaccines
* Perform wound care, dressings, suture removal, and ear irrigation
* Conduct NHS Health Checks and health promotion activities
* Carry out phlebotomy and ECGs (where trained)
* Manage infection prevention and control procedures
* Provide health education, advice, and support to patients and carers
* Promote self‑care and healthy lifestyle choices
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records
* Act as a patient advocate and contribute to safeguarding processes
* Maintain clinical supplies and equipment
* Participate in clinical audits, QOF activities, and quality improvement initiatives
* Contribute to practice policies, protocols, and procedures
* Work collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, reception, and wider MDT
* Support training and supervision of healthcare assistants or students (where appropriate)

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
* Competence in immunisations and chronic disease management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Strong IT skills and experience using clinical systems (e.g. EMIS, SystmOne)
* Experience in travel health services
* Teaching or mentoring experience
