Hire Desk Controller / Administrator Location: Commutable to Preston Salary: Competitive (DOE) Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday An established UK equipment hire business is looking to recruit a Hire Desk Controller / Administrator to support day-to-day rental operations. This is a key role at the heart of the business, ideal for someone who understands the pace, pressure, and priorities of a busy hire or logistics environment. The Role You’ll be responsible for keeping the hire desk running smoothly, acting as the link between customers, drivers, engineers, and internal teams. Key responsibilities include: * Processing hire orders from enquiry through to off-hire * Scheduling deliveries, collections, and equipment movements * Liaising with customers to confirm availability, timings, and requirements * Coordinating with transport and logistics teams to maximise efficiency * Raising contracts, purchase orders, and hire documentation * Managing queries, amendments, and problem-solving in real time * Maintaining accurate system records and hire data The Ideal Candidate This role will suit someone who already understands how a hire desk works and doesn’t need hand-holding.
