We are currently working in partnership with a well-established main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Design Manager to support delivery on a key project based in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable business with a strong pipeline of work across the region.
The Role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring coordination, compliance, and programme alignment across all disciplines.
You will play a key role in driving design quality and ensuring that all technical aspects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing and coordinating the full design process
* Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
* Ensuring design information is delivered on time and in line with programme
* Reviewing drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance
* Identifying and mitigating design risks
* Supporting project teams through design-related challenges on site
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
* Strong understanding of construction processes and technical design
* Experience working on commercial / residential / mixed-use projects (adjust if needed)
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
