Teacher of Science (Chemistry Specialist)

Contract: Full-Time, Maternity Cover
Duration: September 2026 – July 2027
Are you a passionate scientist with the ability to spark curiosity in the classroom? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school community in Gateshead for a fixed-term maternity cover.
While we welcome applications from all science specialisms, we have a particular interest in candidates with a Chemistry focus who can deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 for the right candidate).
The Role
As a Science Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Planning and delivering creative, practical-based lessons that align with the National Curriculum.

Inspiring students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in the sciences.

Managing a classroom environment that encourages safety, inquiry, and academic excellence.

Contributing to the wider life of the school and the development of the Science Department.
What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is essential.
*
Subject Expertise: A strong background in Science, ideally with a degree or specialism in Chemistry.

Adaptability: The ability to hit the ground running and build strong relationships with students and staff quickly.

Commitment: A teacher who is dedicated to the full academic year (Sept '26 - July '27) to ensure continuity for our learners.
