_Lavender Fields Care Village is a family-run, self-sustainable retirement community, located just outside Barmby Moor, __*which is close to the market town of Pocklington on the A1079 out of York*__. _

*Summary of Role*
The key purpose of the role is to be responsible and accountable for the care, safety and wellbeing of residents on their unit, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are met, whilst helping to achieve their full potential. To provide leadership to the team, in order to ensure the safe, smooth, properly documented and efficient running of their unit, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the care home, company and regulatory guidelines.. They will also be responsible for the administration of any required medications, and liaising frequently with the care manager when required.
The post holder needs to be flexible, responsive to change, and also able to oversee delivery and delegation of tasks to others in their team. The role involves working flexibly over 7 days, will involve some evening and weekend work.
*Main Responsibilities*
· Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
· Deal effectively with common complaints / niggles, escalating to and informing the Care / Deputy Manager when necessary.
· Ensure the unit follows the home's admission procedure for welcoming and familiarising new residents.
· Responsibility for ensuring there is evidence that care plans have involved residents / relatives as much as possible in being drawn up and reviewed.
· Complete and audit care plans to ensure all assessments are complete.
· To be responsible for the safe administration of medicines, in accordance with company policy and legislation.
· To take personal responsibility for the ordering, booking in and returns of medication for the unit, in conjunction with others who may assist competently.
· Ensure that where there are concerns that the resident may lack capacity (Mental Capacity Act 2005) that the relevant MCA documentation is completed, and that where necessary best interests meetings are held and documented.
· Where a resident lacks capacity, they have adequate external or PoA support.
· Support staff in their awareness of policy around capacity, consent and managing emergency consent issues
· Prioritise, organise and manage your own and your team's workload in a manner that maintains efficiency, and promotes quality.
· To be responsible for the day-to-day management of employee absence in the unit, conducting return to work interviews - if requested to by the Care / Deputy Manager.
· To deploy staff effectively in relation to care duties by controlling the duty rota.
· To effectively liaise with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the unit, i.e. kitchen, laundry, housekeeping, maintenance.

*Personal Characteristics - Requirements:*
* Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we look after;
* Clear written and verbal communication style;
* IT skills and numerical ability;
* To be willing to undertake required training, sometimes outside normal working hours;
* To be available for flexible working patterns including evenings and at weekends;
* At least two year’s previous experience of being a Unit Manager in a care setting. xkybehq
*Personal Characteristics - Preferable:*
* Experience of supporting people or of working in a social care setting;
* Social care qualification (NVQ Level 5, or be working towards it).
