Job Overview
Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market‑leading Energy company to recruit a Lead Mechanical Engineer (Balance of Plant) for their Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in Rochester, Kent.
The vital Lead Mechanical Engineer role comes with a basic salary of £58,100 - £87,100 plus a performance‑related bonus and other excellent benefits.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver effective outage strategies and manage projects.
* Optimise the planned maintenance strategy to meet stakeholders’ needs and maximise plant reliability while minimising downtime.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to other departments in relation to BoP, focusing on maximising efficiency, plant performance and safety.
* Provide technical governance, guidance and industry best practice, including compliance with PSST and statutory inspections.
* Own budget and manage contracts with strategic suppliers and mechanical contract partners.
Professional Qualifications
* Ideally a Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline; HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent may be considered.
* A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH is advantageous but not required.
Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge
* Prior Mechanical Engineering experience in heavy process engineering environments (Power Stations, Paper Mills, Top‑Tier COMAH sites, Refineries, Petrochemicals, etc.).
* Experience with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) is advantageous.
* Knowledge of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) is advantageous.
* Demonstrated ability to successfully manage teams.
