Strath Union is looking for a talented HR and People Manager to join our team. The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes. You will play a key role in shaping our culture, developing our team, and driving HR initiatives including recruitment, employee engagement and excellent staff experience. We align to University of Strathclyde pay scales Contract Type: Permanent, subject to successful 6-month probationary period FTE and Hours of Work: 0.6 FTE, 21 hours/week (term time working may be considered) Job Purpose: The purpose of the role is to provide general HR support to and for staff. You will be expected to make sure all HR documentation and HR records are kept up to date. In addition, you will be expected to deal with, and respond in a timely and professional manner to general HR enquiries. You will also be the first point of contact for any queries regarding HR. Key to the role will also be the implementation and continuation of the cultural framework ensuring staff are living the organisation’s values and also promoting the improvement of staff experience. Main Responsibilities : · Answer general employee questions and provide a point of contact for HR. · Maintain and update data on the HR portal. · Set up new starters and make sure all right to work documentation and [and access to relevant systems is provided. · Lead on all recruitment administration for staff, advertising, contracting new starters and onboarding. · Support line managers to follow HR policy and procedure for example, scheduling probation reviews, monitoring compliance with mandatory training and holiday usage. · Working on initiatives to promote the improvement of staff experience. · Contribute to the continual development and strategic vision of the HR service. · Administer regular staff engagement surveys. · Regular reporting of key HR stats to the senior management team and suggesting remedial action if the stats show this is required. · Make sure emails to the HR inbox are regularly monitored and answered in a timely and efficient manner. · Conducting HR Induction Meetings with new starters. · Provide support in HR investigation meetings, disciplinary or grievance meetings including basic investigation interviews and taking minutes in more complex interviews. · Source relevant training and development opportunities for staff across the organisation and ensure up to date records are kept of all training and development · Strath Union has recently developed a new cultural framework and your role would support the SMT in implementation around the framework and ensuring staff are living the organisation's values. As a result, this presents various exciting opportunities and challenges. The role is subject to a 6-month probationary period. 31 days annual leave per year plus 11 public holidays subject to pro rata as necessary. The successful applicant will be eligible to join the relevant workplace pensions scheme as determined by their starting grade. This role may be suitable for some remote working, but there will be a requirement for on-campus working on a regular and permanent basis.
