Role: Chargehand

Hours: 45 hours per week | MondayFriday | Days only
Salary: Up to £48,300 per annum (DOE)
Are you ready to take charge? Were recruiting an experienced Chargehand to lead workshop operations within a busy service environment. This is a hands-on supervisory role, responsible for overseeing personnel, equipment, and workflow while ensuring compliance with roadworthiness and health & safety standards.
The Role
Manage and support workshop personnel, ensuring effective planning and efficient workflow
Act as a key point of contact for internal and external customers
Prepare quotes and provide progress updates throughout the job lifecycle
Plan, oversee, and sign off work, ensuring accurate documentation and real-time invoicing
Inspect, repair, and maintain vehicles and specialist equipment in line with DVSA and roadworthiness requirements
Maintain high standards of compliance, housekeeping, and workshop safety
Promote a strong and positive Health & Safety culture at all times
What Were Looking For
Proven experience in maintenance and repair within a workshop environment (RCVs or similar advantageous)
Strong background in both body and chassis work
Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification (or equivalent) and a current PLG licence
Confident diagnostic skills, including the ability to interpret wiring diagrams
Good working knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, and workshop documentation
Customer-focused, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
Flexible to travel occasionally and work overtime when required
