Deputy Ward Manager
Ward 12 is a specialised respiratory ward, including a dedicated respiratory support unit. We care for people with a variety of respiratory conditions working closely with the MDT to provide exceptional care. The respiratory support unit provides enhanced care for people who require non‑invasive ventilation.
Main duties
* Supervise, support and educate junior members of the team.
* Act as a role model for your team.
* Ensure and maintain patient, staff and visitor safety.
* Hold the site bleep responsibility.
* Ensure team and patient safety, including safeguarding.
* Contribute to ward assurance and audit.
* Work with the wider MDT to ensure high standards of effective patient care.
* Ensure safe staffing levels, contribute to off duty.
Job responsibilities
* Assume responsibility for the devolved management of a ward/department, including assessment of care needs and implementation of evidence‑based programme of care in the absence of the Ward Manager.
* Supervise, support and educate junior members of the team.
* Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Be responsible for all nursing care standards and maintain high clinical standards.
* Act as team leader and coordinate the multi‑disciplinary care of a group of patients.
* Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person Specification – Qualifications / Professional Registration
* NMC Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Nurse.
* Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent (required for the post, expected to be completed within 18 months).
* PP126/127 or AC631 or D32/33 or A1 or equivalent.
* Leadership course.
* Management course.
* Diploma or degree in nursing.
* Qualification in specialty.
Qualifications
* Experience in relevant speciality.
* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools.

Location and Compensation
Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital – North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham. Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year (pro rata per annum).
