An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic andself-motivated Clinical Psychologist to join the Berkshire Intensive SupportTeam.
The Intensive Support Team (IST) provides an intensive response tosupport people with a learning disability at a time when their health needschallenge the service capacity of existing teams.
Main duties of the job
Formulate and implement plans for the formalpsychological treatment and/or management of a clients psychological issuesthat significantly impair their quality of life based upon an appropriateconceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based uponevidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
Be responsible for implementing a range ofpsychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups,within the inpatient service employed individually and in synthesis, adjustingand refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatorymodels and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses, with particularsensitivity to the therapeutic relationship.
Provide specialist psychological advice,guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly toclients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
Provide advice, consultation and training tostaff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings,where appropriate.
Provide specialist psychological andbehavioural assessments of clients referred to the IST upon the appropriateuse, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from avariety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological tests),self-report measures, rating scales, direct structured observations andsemi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved inthe clients care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered and accredited with Health Care Professional Council (HCPC).
* Post graduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology.
Experience
* Experience of working with patients who have learning disabilities.
* NHS experience in a similar post is highly desirable but not essential.
