Responsibilities
* Provide support to the team by assisting with routine accounting tasks, writing and uploading journals, and maintaining accurate financial records for relevant areas.
* Make recommendations for process improvement, particularly relating to routine administration tasks.
* Support the team in providing detailed analysis for month and year end work, including responding to internal and external audit queries.
* Advise and support staff in Colleges, Professional Services and customers, verbally and in writing, interpreting existing policies, regulations and guidance as necessary.
* Act as a member of the team, helping the team meet its objectives.
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with contacts in other areas of Finance, Estates and Commercial Services, service areas, Colleges, and external bodies; participate in networks or working groups to convey and receive information.
About You
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant looking to develop their financial skills within our team. You will:
* Be educated to A level or demonstrate equivalent experience.
* Have knowledge of accounting techniques, procedures and terminology.
* Have excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
* Be able to work to deadlines and under pressure with competing timescales.
* Have a wide range of administrative experience in a professional office environment.
* Have good IT skills, with experience of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data base systems, and the ability to manipulate data to produce basic reports.

This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week.
Job Share: This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time. The role is campus based for at least 3 days per week, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
