Job description
Our client, operating in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Specialist Works Service Engineer to join their team on a contractual basis in Samlesbury. This role involves working within the Business Unit - Air, focusing on infrastructure projects connected to both plant and equipment. The successful applicant must be ready to work fully on-site, with the flexibility to work from home if necessary. The contract duration is 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinating the design, construction planning, and implementation of various infrastructure projects on the estate and connected to plant and equipment at BAE Systems Warton Unit sites.
2. Managing installations that include large plant and equipment, civil works, office refurbishments, upgrades to roads and lighting infrastructure, and more.
3. Engaging with internal and external customers, engineering professionals, and subject matter experts to interpret customer requirements and prepare designs, plans, specifications, and financial business cases.
4. Coordinating with professional consultant teams and contractors to develop facilities incorporating plant and equipment and infrastructure projects.
5. Ensuring project designs follow RIBA Stages and installations comply with company and statutory health and safety legislation, Building Control, and CDM regulations.
6. Managing a range of suppliers to maximise output, achieve customer satisfaction, and ensure best value for the business.
7. Delivering projects in line with company and departmental quality procedures and providing budgetary and financial management justifications.
Job Requirements:
8. Degree or HND/C qualification in Construction and/or Building Services or a similar discipline.
9. Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in managing Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH).
10. Knowledge of construction and plant and equipment project installations.
11. Proven experience in managing contractors on major construction projects, compliant with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
12. Strong supplier management and communication skills.
13. Flexibility, resilience, a can-do attitude, and the ability to influence and drive progress to meet project milestones.
Desirable:
14. Previous experience in Design Management of Construction activities.
15. Experience in Construction Management.
16. Project Management qualifications and demonstrable experience.
Working Hours:
17. 5 days per week (Monday-Friday) within the site span hours (06:30-19:00 Monday-Thursday, 06:30-12:30 Friday), totalling 37.00 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks).
18. Start and finish times are to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours.
19. 30-minute unpaid lunch break, automatically deducted each working day from 12:30-13:00 by the electronic time management system.
20. Dependence on workload may require adjustments to work hours as requested by local management.
