A leading Asset Management company, based in Mayfair London, with deep roots in the emerging markets sector is seeking to hire a Legal Counsel with experience in either private credit or banking and finance law, to assist with the transactional workload of the investment management team.
The nature of emerging markets transactions are diverse, unusual and broad and consequently this role will advise on a very broad range of matters. Industry sector deals have included commodities and mining, infrastructure, commercial property, media and TV amongst others. You will therefore carry out the following with the investment teams:
* Negotiating and executing private credit and capital transactions and typical transaction documents (e.g. NDAs and term sheets) and financing documents (e.g. loan agreements, security documents and subordination agreements).
* Working closely with the investments team to provide real time advice on live negotiations, in conjuction with the wider legal team nd external counsel.
* Lead on various project initiatives within the company
Candidate Requirements:
* You will be a qualified lawyer with at least 2 - 5 years' PQE from a top tier law firm and / or in house legal experience, within private credit or banking and finance.
* Experience of structuring, negotiating and executing private credit transactions and typical transaction documents (e.g. NDAs and term sheets) and financing documents (e.g. loan agreements, security documents and subordination agreements).
* Ideally you will have an interest in international and emerging markets and may be an international lawyer (qualified in a different jurisdiction, but now qualified in the UK).
* Secondment or in-house experience, within a hedge fund, asset manager or similar financial institution would be highly advantageous but is not an absolute requirement.
This is an extremely unique opportunity in the market. Working within the emerging markets sector offers a very different perpsective, away from vanilla products. There is a real team ethos, working together to deliver and is enjoyable and fun, but requires legal dexterity and strong commercial acumen.
