Job Description:
A leading FMCG Food manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Senior New Product Development Technologist / Senior NPD Technologist to develop products from concept to launch.
This role is site based and will require a UK driving licence.
No sponsorship can be provided for this position or candidates accepted with work visas expiring within the next 3 years.
This Senior Development Technologist / Senior NPD Technologist will manage projects and tasks internally alongside customer requests whilst ensuring work is completed in line with the key dates on the critical path. You will also organise and execute factory trials by ordering ingredients, planning paperwork, and attending the trials with the factory.
Responsibilities include:
* Develop recipes based on a customer brief or for an innovation session
* Costing up recipes and completing NPD specs
* Completing sample submission forms and customer presentation PowerPoints
* Packaging fits for inner cartons, retail bags, and outer cases
* Sourcing and ordering new raw materials and packaging for briefs
* Organising sample requests to be sent to customers with labels, cooking instructions, and NPD specs
* Meeting critical paths for each project
* Keeping up to date with food trends and macro trends influencing food choices
* Maintaining organisation of the NPD stock in the freezers
* Innovation development of new products based on trends that fit within factory capabilities
* Supporting factory trials by providing recipes, specs, and methods for new products progressing to trials
* Conducting taste panels and signing off products/packaging following factory trials
You will ideally be degree qualified or equivalent in a Food Science discipline and have experience working within an NPD department in the food industry. You should be IT literate in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and able to work cross-functionally with a positive can-do attitude. Excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a keen interest in food are essential.
