An excellent opportunity has arisen to work in the administration team for the Health Protection Team in Public Health Wales in Cardiff.

The Health Protection Team is made up of Consultants, Nurses, Practitioners, Personal Assistants and Notification Officers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Welsh speaking individual to join our administration team for the post of Administration & Resource/Notification Officer.

The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible approach when the needs of the service require (i.e. during an outbreak/incident scenario) and demonstrate an ability to effectively manage and re-prioritise their workload.

The Administration & Resource/Notification Officer plays a critical role in supporting the All Wales Acute Service by receiving, managing and processing notifications of infectious diseases and other statutory public health incidents. The post holder will ensure notifications are accurately recorded, triaged, escalated and actioned in line with legislation, national guidance and local standard operating procedures.

The post holder must be able to attend the office on a regular basis.


Main duties of the job

Act as the first point of contact for the All Wales Acute Response Service (AWARe), receiving and handling notifications from Health Care Professionals via telephone and email.

The post holder will manage notifications that are often complex or time‑critical, ensuring they are accurately captured and recorded on the case management system in a timely and confidential manner.

The role requires confident management of the telephony system, responding professionally to a high volume of enquiries, liaising effectively with key internal and external stakeholders, and directing or escalating queries in line with established protocols.

Additional responsibilities may include organising and supporting meetings, maintaining documentation, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
