About Us
Nihongo Club Cambridge is a non-profit Japanese language education group established in 2006, based in Cambridgeshire, UK.
We provide heritage language education for children in families who have lived long-term or permanently overseas, mainly in the UK.
In July 2024, our club was officially recognised as a Supplementary School by the Japanese Ministry of Education.
While our focus differs slightly from traditional supplementary schools, we offer structured Japanese language lessons using official textbooks, aimed at long-term and sustainable learning in an overseas environment.
We are currently looking for a part-time teacher to lead Japanese language (kokugo) classes for primary and secondary school students.
Job Details
* Position: Japanese Language / Kokugo Teacher

* Bar Hill Primary SchoolGladeside, Bar Hill, Cambridge CB23 8DY
* Working Hours:
Every Saturday, 10:00–11:30am (90 minutes)No classes during half terms or long holidaysParticipation in cultural events several times a year is expected
Compensation
* Pay based on experience and qualifications
* (Paid every half term – 6 times per year)
* Annual bonus and pay review system
* DBS check support provided for long-term commitment
Requirements
Applicants must:
* Hold a valid UK visa with permission to work
* (We are unable to support visa applications from overseas)
* Reside within commuting distance to Bar Hill (Cambridge area) (Access by car is recommended)
* Have relevant teaching experience (Japanese language education in schools, online, or corporate settings)
* Be able to commit to regular Saturday morning lessons
* Be able to communicate fluently in Japanese, as all communication with staff, fellow teachers, and parents is conducted in Japanese.
* Be enthusiastic and passionate about Japanese language education
Preferred (but not required):
* Experience teaching with Japanese language (kokugo) textbooks to Japanese children
* Experience attending Japanese schools or supplementary schools as a student
* A team-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate with volunteer organisers and fellow teachers
* Availability to work with us long-term (1 year or more)
