Wigan and Leigh Carers Centre is looking for a community-focused Carers Connect Outreach Worker to help reduce social isolation and loneliness among unpaid adult and young carers across the Wigan borough.
This rewarding role will see you taking support directly into local communities — working in cafés, community hubs and neighbourhood venues — bringing carers together through group activities, peer support and accessible advice.
About the role:
Identify and support unpaid adult and young carers.
Facilitate group activities and outreach sessions in community settings.
Provide information, guidance and practical support.
Help carers build friendships and positive peer networks.
Work closely with volunteers, community venues and partner organisations.
We're looking for someone who:
Understands the challenges faced by unpaid and young carers.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Can work independently and as part of a team.
Is empathetic, organised and community-minded.
Working hours:
Flexible across the week, including one early evening per week and every other Saturday morning.
